Sabine Straver

Professional Organiser | Educate program manager | Founder of “ The Essence Of Clarity”

My name is Sabine and I am the voice behind this website. I used to never read about me’s but nowadays I tend to be curious who is this person?

What makes them tick and (let’s be honest) do I want to listen to them? I’ll let you make up your mind on the last one yourself however to help you decide here we go.

A long time ago in a land far-far away

My childhood was in the Netherlands. I decided to travel at 18, then stayed in Australia a migrant at 19.

My parents like many people in the Netherlands are clean, tidy and organised. Naturally, I am not that tidy and organised by nature, but growing up in that environment was great. However, when you’re all of a sudden an “adult” alone on the other side of the world. I had to learn how to get organised in my home and with my paperwork. Over the years I became really good at it now I can guide you on your journey towards organised living.

Life in Australia

I learned how to speak the language, run little businesses’, keep a house, and survive bug infestations in the hot Australian summers. This experience forced me to get organised, I had to look at each item just to shake the critters out.

Study

I managed young children with work and study commitments (I completed a Bachelor in Arts a major in Psychology in four years whilst having 2 children). After a while people came to me for organising ideas and support so I started a business the Essence of Clarity and visited people’s houses, helping them organised and declutter – it was amazing I loved it.

Parenting

I became unexpectedly a single parent starting out very much like my migrant days with essentially 3 suitcases of belongings, no clutter there! Those were though and special days. The whole house two small bedrooms and the living room could organised how I wanted on a shoestring budget of course.

Career

The following years are a blur. I worked a variety of jobs in management, teaching at University and then landed a job creating online courses. It was amazing to create online content for students, to teach and be there learning besides them.

In 2020 helped the institutions Covid responds (as many people all of a sudden needed to be able to teach online). Then I moved to another section of the University. I now work on course delivery and design for an entrepreneurial arm of the institution. Again a really amazing job meeting fascinating people with incredible ideas that might one day change the world.

As I work in entrepreneurial education and have a skill set in organising and decluttering it is only fitting to continue my own business which supports individuals to organise their homes and paperwork.
