Doing a little bit each day
For this article, I am not writing from my desk as I normally do. I am sitting in this comfortable lounge, plush pillows, the heater on and you know everything at this moment in time is right with the world. Organising is about much more than containers and cleaning up your mess. It is about feeling comfortable in your own home. It is about being able to relax away from the frantic world outside and to have this feeling of peace within yourself even if it is for a fleeting moment.
The aim is to do a little each day, depending on how many people there are in your house do one load of washing every day or every second day. Put cups away when you are finished with them and wash dishes whilst you’re cooking and as soon as you are finished eating. This creates a flow in your house in which it feels like your house cleans itself. You'll then start to get more and more times you can relax and do what you would like to do. You can watch telly, see a movie, read a book or maybe just stare at the ceiling. It is your space and no-one can tell you what to do there. Your house will transform into a home and a place to recharge the way you would like to.
This is not something that can be achieved in a day or a week, nor should it be something that we have to do. If we want it for ourselves, we can achieve a clutter free home. Start by decluttering something every week, retain and purchase only furniture you like and feel comfortable with. Celebrate every little milestone on your journey to a clutter free and organised house. You deserve a clean, organised home just for you, because you are this amazing talented person that should have a place to rest, recoup and a place you can call home.
