Organising your photos

Organising your photos, have you done this? Or is it still on the list of things you should organise? I think there are generally, two great times to organise your pictures; in the times that we are on holiday and/ or in the winter months.

At the time of writing, I am actually on holiday and I am finding holidays are a great time to organise pictures.  As technology has changed you can now organise your pictures whilst away. I think tourist destinations have picked up on the two main things that Western travellers want nowadays; coffee and an internet connection. Without these they start to get antsy, to say the least.

Organising your photos whilst you are on holidays

Focussing on the latter, the internet connection allows us to upload our holiday snaps to our online storage solutions, sort them, and pick which ones we will print, delete, or want to transform into an album. If we choose to, we can now be organised with our pictures the day after we return, seeing you always make some snaps on your way back.

The benefit of organising photos before we get back from holidays

Is manyfold; we can write notes belonging to the pictures when memories are still fresh and send snaps to family and friends. But what I also like; is that if the computer crashes or gets stolen or if the camera falls into the pool, we have all our pictures relatively save in the cloud. When we come home, we put the finishing touches on our pictures before we pick up our day-to-day lives again. No guilt trip, no procrastination, just feeling, relaxed and proud of your organisation skills that even go on holidays with us.

Organising photos once a year

If you are not going on holiday any time soon, winter is still a great time to sort through those snaps. Pick what appeals to you more; your printed snaps or digital pictures and start there. Do not work for long periods, but sort through them slowly and create a system that helps you retrieve those snaps in a logical, effective way that aligns with your way of thinking. If you do this once in the winter months, your summers can be spent snapping away and making more wonderful memories to add to that organised photosystem.

I talk about organising photos in the Paperwork course and the insights you get from the book “How to Organise your home and Paperwork” can be used to help you organised photos as well.
