Organising and preparation
Organising is more than rearranging things in your home. You can for example also use organising to as preparation for appointments or important meetings. Although we all have been guilty (sometimes with great success) of flying by the seat of our pants, preparation and due diligence is worth the effort.
Organising and preparation for the location
I had an important meeting scheduled recently, so upon a suggestion of my very organised friend, I checked out the location a few days earlier. Only to find out it wasn’t the location I thought it was and I was basically going to walk straight into a building zone without anyone there. Because it was several days earlier I could easily course correct, find the right location, think about parking, have a look around and feel somewhat familiar prior to being focused on the events of that day.

Added to this I did my homework, I read up about the organisation, about the people I was likely to meet, about what I would like to say and basically I tried to paint the clearest picture possible. This made the whole event run much smoother and it was less anxiety inducing for me.
Principles of organising and preparation
You can apply these principles of organising and preparation in regards to: the location, parking spots, travel time, back ground data and people you will likely meet, in a number of scenarios. You can use this for a job interview, starting a new course or prior to moving house. My friend has used this every time he starts a new job and has relocated. He looks at the new home, takes some time to learn how to get to work from a new location (especially at the time you will be travel to work; mornings tend to be a bit busier). And of course, for most events, you will have to go over the necessary paperwork.
One of the great things about organising is how it can make you feel. If you apply some of this week’s ideas, you will most likely feel; calmer, more in control, more confident and more organised.
