Spring Cleaning Checklist | Essential Tips for a Fresh Start

Spring is in the air and that means?  Spring cleaning! Well, if you are not sure about that, there are different ways to do a good cleaning or a big declutter session, throughout the house. Let’s have a look at two different ways of doing “spring cleans” this week.

Blouse on Hanger doing, Laundry

Spring cleaning in one day

You can do a spring clean in one hit, if you have the energy and motivation, I would say it most likely will take one person several mornings. Make sure you have the time and stay on track with this option.

Break spring cleaning up in different sessions

I am, assuming that most of us are busy and we don’t have several days to clean the whole house. Another way of doing deep cleaning is dividing your house into 4 sessions that need to be well cleaned/decluttered once a year (some areas might come up twice). In winter it could be the kitchen or laundry. In spring it might be nice to do the garden and the windows, as the weather is heating up.  With this option, you need to make sure your whole house is covered in the four sessions and you know when you will clean (school holidays are good triggers for cleaning sessions).

Spring cleaning - remove dirt

In regards to the actual job of spring cleaning here is an idea, in regards to the order of cleaning. I always start with the duster and vacuum, as it removes all the loose dirt. Then you can wipe areas down. When we are in the area of choice - this is either the room you want to clean or the specific area you would like cleaned. Take one corner and move in one direction.

If you still have lots of clutter, clutter is always the priority rather than cleaning.

As always don’t overwork yourself, have a clear goal in terms of what you would like to achieve in either area or allocated time, and pick a reward for all your hard work. Here is to some beautiful spring cleaning this week!
